Sundays

by louidog @ Sunday, 24. Feb, 2008 - 10:16:02

Sundays are always an odd day for me. Part of me says that Sundays should be the day of rest, a good old Sunday roast, a long walk with the dog with the family in tow and then to collapse in the evening with a nice cuppa and a sandwich made from the lovely joint of meat we had earlier. In reality, Sundays are always a mad rush to make sure the school uniforms are washed, ironed and ready, the beds have been changed and the house has been given a good top to toe going over with the duster and hoover. There is always a general feel of gloom and doom descending as the evening wears on at the thought of work the next day.

Today I am feeling that I have had a good half term but boy where did it go? I think it whizzed past while I wasn't looking. The week seemed to go so fast and all those things I promised myself I would do....well, yes, you guessed, I didn't do any of them!

The promised visit to the Tate Modern....nope!
A walk along the beach....nope!
The long awaited visit to the Royal Acadamy of Art with a friend....nope!
Afternoon tea in Fortnums after the visit to the RA....nope!

I really do need to get my self into gear :-/

Bloggers block? Who said that a few days ago?? I'm on a roll now....

I rather like that idea of a Sunday myself... except the dog bit as I don't have one of those... but the Sunday roast... the walk... the collapsing in a chair... heaven!

'er I had a short, sharp shock last night in the form of an email from the Head with the weekly list of "what's going on". That kind of reminded me I have a few things to sort out too!

I've just re-written the plans that she'd done and have sent them back to her. Normally I would have changed them but not said anything but hubby reminded me that she'd never learn if I kept doing everything for her.
Good luck with your it all, hope the week's less stressful for you than mine was!

Switching off is indeed an art in it's self I'd say. You either can or can't. Sadly I'm in the "can't" group :(

Just off to read your tips!

I usually love Sundays for those very reasons - although it usually means a dash to the shops because we've forgotten to buy the roast ingredients. As a kid, I used to hate Sunday evenings because it was 'being scrubbed up ready for school' night, to a background of "Sing Something Simple"!

I remember the Sunday night bath and hair wash, and then having to sit for what seemed like hours in front of the fire to dry my very long hair.
Remember those red veined legs everyone used to get from standing infront of the fire too?

Ooh, Sunday evenings listening to Alexis Korner on Radio 1, doing my homework... happy days.

Homework on a Sunday night was the only way to go....you never got time to do it during the week as you were out enjoying yourself.
That's probably why I failed everything! ;)
