  • P.S. I love you!

Have you been to the cinema recently? I have been tonight to see P.S. I love you with some friends. We had a really nice evening and it was nice for us all to just collapse and watch the film and have some good old girlie laughs. I suppose it's a girlie film really and I have to say it was rather amusing. I would see it again actually....yep, I enjoyed it that much!

We arrived and found some nice seats and got comfy. Then in come the others who mostly went to the far fetched corners of the cinema. But why oh why do others want to come and sit 2 seats away from me when they have lots of choice? Then, why do they have to chew gum and blow bubbles? Or fidget while they try to get their legs over the seat infront and then let them dangle and tap the seat back and fro??? It's one of lifes mysteries isn't it? At least it didn't all spoil the film for me :D

Oh and the popcorn was good too!

  • Monday shock......

So it's Monday, not the best day of the week I know. I had a restless night and don't think I slept much despite hubby telling me I snored all night. Pah, he can talk!!!

Before I knew it the alarm was going off. I don't know about you but I like to have the radio come on instead of an annoying buzzing. I like to listen to the news so I can hear all the gloom and doom before I crawl out of bed and get myself ready for that thing called work while deciding if I am going to be depressed all day or not. Is there nothing happy in the world these days? Every single day it's sad stuff that's happening around the world.

I have to say this morning I had a rather shocking awakening. I was laying there wondering if the fog would get any thicker and if anyone would notice me missing at work when there was this shocking news!!!! Richard Madeley goes commando 8| For goodness sake, is there any need for that at 6.30am?! It completely put me off my chain of thought and put me right off my Cheerios! Then, to make matters worse, Judy Finnigan added that he loves to leave his undies off as he likes to feel the fresh air about his bits! Hey, c'mon Judy...remember, this is Monday morning and shocks like that are a little hard to get your head round. I don't know how you feel about Richard but he drives me nuts. I would say he would love to be an Honourary Woman as he knows everything there is to know about womens stuff, even childbirth and PMT. A perfect excuse for him to wear a skirt I'd say so he can let his nether regions be free! What an old woman he is!

I may set the buzzing alarm come on tomorrow morning....I don't think I could cope with anymore shocks like that!

  • Is it time to get out of bed yet?

I have spent the day superglued to the mattress!

I got up about 8.30am, hung some washing out, did another 2 loads and hung them out. Had some toast and a nice cuppa, watched the cookery programmes on BBB1 and then....went back to bed!

    What a wonderful day....:D

Hope you have all had a super Saturday :D

  • Hurrahhhhhh....it's Friday at last!

I don't know about you all out there in blog land but I am sooo pleased Friday is here again. It's been a very long week here in Window Sill Bay. I have had far too many late nights and early mornings and today it took its toll. I was grumpy today...very grumpy!

I think that every car on my way to work this morning found it hard to stay their side of the white line down the middle of the road. Why? It's clear enough isn't it? The line is there to help you stay "your" side of the road and not to drive at other cars coming down the road 88| My drive to work was very interesting to say the least.

I got home from work and decided a nice long dog walk was needed to blow the blues away. It was lovely. It was very breezy but thankfull dry. I have been so fed up with all this rain and the fields have all been so muddy. The dog loves to roll around the fields and then find the streams so you can imagine the scene at the end of a walk. Not today though!

Tonight I had to go to the retail park to get a new blind. I sat in the car watching all the learner drivers weaving in and out of the parked cars. It was so funny...it was like being at Legoland watching the kids drive round the driving track. There was plenty of "push and pull" demonstrating by the teachers and lots of emergency stops being practised. One instructor nearly got launched through the windscreen after a rather enthusiastic stop! I must come back again :)

Enjoy the weekend everyone....I am going to bed and might not get up tomorrow. I will rot in bed all weekend I think :D

  • Yet another day in paradise. Well OK, Window Sill Bay.....

As you may notice I have not run off to some far flung exotic island to allow me and the hubby time to decide what to spend our lottery win on! We didn't win. What a surprise - NOT! :**:

So today I have been to work, suffered the mad one yet again, made more bread, chatted on the phone for 2 hours to my bestest friend and hugged the dog for ages and ages. Do I feel better? Course I do!

Have you seen the wonderful moon tonight? Oh it looks fantastic and the stars are out too. A perfect star gazing night but I'll tell you what.

It's flipping cold out tonight! The dog walk wasn't a long one tonight...I had forgot my hat and gloves!

  • What do you do?

What do you do when you work with someone who is so confused that even they don't know what's going on?

Now this is not to say my mind works in a normal way at all but compared with the nutty one and their mind I would say I am pretty sane. They are the person that turns everywhere inside out and upside down to find their glasses when all the time they are perched on top of their head. They will also "loose" every sheet of important paper and deny all knowledge of it until they rediscover it lurking in a pile of recycling! Information is not passed on to me EVER. You getting the picture here? Daisy is one unhappy bunny :-/

I am hoping for a very large lottery win tonight so I may become a lady who lunches and shops and put all this working mularky firmly behind me!

Mind you, I do know someone who won a stupid amount on the lottery a few years back. I think it was something like £180,000 and he just drunk himself silly. What a waste! I could buy a new car, loads of shoes, lots of nice girlie things and be very happy indeed :D

    *sigh*

  • What Monday??

What has today been called? Blue Monday or something? Well I know mine started badly....

My alarm normally goes off at 6.45am. I don't have the alarm screaming at me I much prefer the radio to come on. I listen to the news, hear what has gone on overnight and decide how depressed I am going to be during the day after hearing the gloomey reports. The weather always depresses me as it always seems to be raining. Don't dare tell me there will be a hose pipe ban this summer!

Today I woke up at 6.15am and thought that I would just put the radio on and listen for a while then get up. The next thing I knew was the Son getting into bed with me and telling me it was 7.30am 8| OMG!!!! I was late! I so hate getting up late too. I jumped up, charged off to the shower, grabbed some clothes and ran out the door to work. I felt (and looked) like I had been through a hedge backwards and was dressed like Jopseph and his amazing technicolour dreamcoat by time I arrived at work. I felt all out of salts all day too to be honest. Don't you just hate that!

The day didn't get any better really. Well, until I got home that is....I made another loaf of bread and felt so much better!!! Did I mention that I love my bread maker? :p

  • It's good news day!

I don't know about you fellow bloggers out there in blog land but to both myself and hubby Sunday isn't Sunday without the newspapers. Hubby took the dog out at some unearthly hour and was back in time for hot, strong tea and crumpets. We both settled down at the kitchen table and started to read....

I was amused to see that the heroic pilot who landed the BA flight safely at Heathrow was splattered all over one of the papers. There he was a few days ago being a complete hero and now here he was in his striped boxers with a few girlies having fun. I wonder who has cashed in on his short lived fame and sold those photos to this newspaper? I bet they only made about £100 too U-(

There was an interesting story of a lady who got so cross with her boyfriend that she tore one of his testicles off and then tried to eat it! Eh?? What on earth is that all about?!?!? Sadly when the guy went to hospital his testicle was not able to be sewn back on. Weird story eh!

Of course, no Sunday paper would be complete without a Maddy story....call me old fashioned but why has it taken so long for this new suspect to come to light? This whole case worries me.....:**:

Have a good week everyone :>>

  • The Chinese laundry....

Phew....the dreaded Norvo virus has struck at the Daisy household. The son has been laid low with it and I have been living in what can only be described as a Chinese laundry.

How nasty is this bug! The son has really been hit by it and I have to say he must have been ill as he didn't eat for 3 days. This is the boy who eats for England so for him not to eat he must have been really poorly.

Why is it though that as soon as you change all the bedding then do you need to change it again? :-/ I have used so many antiseptic bathroom wipes too. Everywhere he has been I have been behind him cleaning up...just in case. I remember a few years back when there was a big outbreak of some sickness bug and we all got it. OMG, it was awful. We even had to miss our nieces 21st birthday party as we were all so ill and in bed.

If you have suffered from this nasty bug you have my sympathies :)

  • 2 loaves baked already

So, I am the very proud owner of a Panasonic SD255 bread maker. Do I love it? Oooooh I do indeedie :) I think I am going to divorce the hubby and marry this wonderful machine. Well, perhaps not but you get the idea that I just love it? Good, that's due to the fact I think it's wonderful.

I went to Waitrose in the end to get flour etc. What a nightmare that was too! I was so excited that I ran round like a contestant on Dales Supermarket sweep. I was a woman on a mission! I got the white and wholemeal flour and a few other bits and bobs. I got some French bread as the bread I was making was going to take about 3 hours to cook....hubby needed feeding! I paid for my shopping and promptly put my hand through the floor bag and yes, guess who got covered in flour? Yep, right again....me! I was just about to get into the car when slap, the French bread slipped from my clutch and just lay there in the biggest puddle in the world. I just wanted to kick it into the kerb and stamp on it but I restrained myself and just picked it up and threw it in the car and drove off. I was so cross!

Anyway, myself and the Son made our fist loaf. A white one :) Wonderful or what?? I shall never get slim as I will spend all day eating bread. Hubby rather liked it too so todays bread was.....brown! Again, we all enjoyed that loads and loads. Tomorrow, who knows what I will get the creative call to go and make?

  • It's ordered....

....and I am just on my way to collect it!

I am so excited (how sad am I?!)

Then it's off to Tesco to get the flour etc and make a loaf :D

  • My name is Daisy and I am a gadget-aholic.

I have for years and years loved kitchen gadgets. I am sucker for anything be it a cherry stoner or a string bean slicer. You name it, I have it somewhere in the kitchen. Many years ago (before children) my regular Saturday morning entertainment while hubby was at work was a visit to the John Lewis kitchen department.

I have a pasta machine (used about 5 times....lifes too short!), slow cooker, popcorn machine (nasty tasting popcorn, not like the cinemas). Get the picture? Can you see where I am heading? The time has come and yes, I must get one! I get nervous around gadgets as I just have to have them, then go home with a lovely bag, sit on the bus knowing that in 30 minutes I will be at home fiddling with whatever it is. I have to state here and now, I have not done this for so long and the need is sooooo great! I have to have a bread machine and NOW!!! Oooh 'er, I have just come over all faint just at the thought of it 88|

So, I have conducted my surveys into such a machine and I have established that the Panasonic bread maker is the only one to buy. So a Panasonic it will be. I will keep you posted as to when I get this beast of a machine but I think you might just know when....the air of this country will be filled with the smell of freshly baked wholemeal, granary, ciabatta or whatever bread takes my baking fancy!

Now, I need a bigger kitchen to house this machine. The pasta machine (and half my kitchen cupboards contents) needs to be e-bayed I think :D

  • Ignore this posting.....

    Whoops!

Daisy is having a complete dizzy day

Kevin, thanks for replying though :))

  • The weekend endeth here....

Why is it that Sunday night brings a feeling of relaxation but also that feeling of "work in the morning" too? Is it due to the fact we have had got up late or just slopped about doing nothing? Well no slopping about happened in this house this weekend. We have had a Spring clean. Well, our version of it at least.

I don't know about you but we have been social butterflies since Christmas and just not had the time to do those important things. You know, put the decorations back up in the loft and have a really good and proper clean of the house. So this weekend was the time to do all that.

I woke up yesterday ready for a day of "doing" but it never happened really. We had to go visit the father in law who has just come out of hospital after an operation. He has had a few bits of cancer found in his bowel and the docs keep an eye on him and remove bits should they find them. So we charged off to visit the in laws and that meant a drive across London. Now it is only a distance of about 20 miles but it might as well be on the moon....it takes over an hour! We got back and went for a lovely long dog walk instead of "doing".

Today after getting up late (10am) we grabbed the dusters and off we went....no place was left unturned! Where does the muck come from? I know having a dog makes more mess but the dust is the thing that drives me nuts. The blinds needed hoovering (it's the best way to zap that dust!) and that is a full time occupation in it's self. The dog is now very happy in that the back bedroom has been returned to a back bedroom. He has to be the most spoilt dog in London. He is able to lay on the bed and observe every movement in the house.

When it's all done there is a feeling of acheivement. You get that feeling of "aaaah" seeing everything shining and clean and fresh smelling. It's then, and only then, that you can make a cuppa and read the Sunday papers.

I think I'll have strawberry jam on my toast too......:D

  • Proud mum syndrome

Anyone else been for their Parent evening yet? I went last night to the sons evening. Firstly my son forgot to bring me home the letter telling me when it was. He told me at 11pm the night before! So after quicky rearranging some work things I was all set for an evening of "well, he could try harder" comments.

It turned out to be a really good night and I got all positive feedback about him. The best feedback was from the history teacher who was amazed that he was the only one in his class who knew how World War 1 started and that he got all the facts and dates correct. How proud was I?! The other teachers were all so complimentary and positive. I was delighted until I got to meet the maths teacher. Goodness me. Talk about negative!

I am so proud that I may just burst..... :D

  • The perfect curry

On Saturday seeing as it was still my birthday weekend hubby suggested that we pop out for something to eat. I am always eager to eat so put my coat on there and then and sat by the door....just like the dog does when he knows he's going out! A friend had recommended a nice Indian restuarant that wasn't too far away so we thought we would give it a try. We were both starving as we hadn't eaten all day as we were busy doing all sorts of stuff.

We arrived and as it was still early (6.45pm) the place was more or less empty. We were given a table in a very nice position and that pleased us. I hate going to places and then we get sat by the kitchen door or behind a post and can't see anything. I am a total people watcher you see and being amongst people is just too much fun to not be able to see what's going on. We sat down very comfy and ordered a drink and fresh poppadoms and lovely chutneys arrived. How nice I thought. After a while out of the corner of my eye I could see this woman turning round to look at me....in fact she was really straining her neck to look at us all. Now I don't know about you but if you are going to look at someone (and lets face it, we all do it don't we!) then please make sure you are trained in the finer art of looking, but not looking, at someone. Not everyone can master it....this lady included! :-/
Then her hubby/partner/dad/brother/whoever did the same thing! Now, this made me stop talking to look round at them to see what was going on. Was they looking at us? Were they looking at a picture on the wall? No! She was starting at us! :??:

What was that all about?! She was obviously well heeled as she had a diamond on her finger the size of a boiled egg and spoke in a very loud posh voice....bragging about everything including the size of her jacuzzi! But, why was she staring at us!? It made me really uncomfortable as she just kept on doing it! In the end I got up and went over to her table and asked her if she thought she knew me. OK, OK, OK...I know that is being confrontational but blimey, she was getting on my nerves! What is wrong with people! It stopped her though....B)

So folks, what would you have done in the same situation?

  • Happy birthday to meeeeeee.......

Do I look any older? :DD

I celebrated yet another birthday this week and for my birthday surprise I was taken to the see the First Emperor exhibtion at the British Museum. I thought I wasn't ever going to get to see this as all the tickets sold out as soon as they were put on sale. Clever Hubby had managed to get some tickets though. Our tickets were for 9.40pm so that was going to be really lots of fun just to be in a museum at such a late hour. I felt like a child again to be honest, you know, all naughty as if I was in there sneaking about without permission. I had been so excited about going along to the museum that for the last couple of days I have driven everyone mad about it. I can't remember being that excited about something for a long, long time!

What a fabulous exhibition!! If you get the chance to get along there then you just must. I can't even start to tell you about it. It was the happiest birthday I have had for a good few years. My birthdays over the last few years had been filled with either sitting in A & E departments and nursing a very poorly mother so I think I feel that now I am able to move on from the past at last.

    Roll on 2008!!

  • Cafe treat....

Lunch time at work is always good on the first day back. It's a tradition that we all go round the cafe and have something naughty to eat. We all sat and clock watched until it was time to charge off round to the cafe. I was the first to order as I knew exactly what I wanted. A mushroom sandwich. Bliss!

Everyone else ordered omlette and chips, burger and chips, panini. Everyone got their food and there I sat, starving! The cook walked past and saw I wasn't eating and realised he had forgotten me. He was sorry and rushed off to cook the mushrooms. How could he forget my sarnie!

It was worth waiting for though. Lots of salt and pepper....mmmmmm!!

  • Work tomorrow....

I'm feeling grumpy tonight as I have to return to that place I call work tomorrow. I really don't feel as if I have had a break really but I suppose I can't complain...but will anyway :D

I dread to think how the day will go. We are on first aid lessons all day and I just can't wait. NOT! Anyone can stick a plaster on, pat the child on the head and send them on their way right? No, OK, OK, Okkkkkkk, I know that's not how to do it (and I don't do it like that, honestly!) but me and my warped humour have to shine through and keep me entertained!

We will all talk about our night out on the last day of term and talk about whoever was rip roaringly drunk (that was the Head actually!) and how nice it was not having to get up the next morning too. I wonder if anyone will actually remember to bring in any cakes, biscuits or other edible goodies for tea break? I do hope so! The first day back at work is always a wrench but if Eileen has baked some of her wonderful cakes then it makes the day worthwhile :D

    Oh well, wish me luck!
