The good old black and white film....

by louidog @ Sunday, 30. Dec, 2007 - 10:45:25

Christmas isn't all work, cook and shop you know!!

Have you been watching all those wonderful old black and white films that have been showing on TV? I have had a real film fest over the last few weeks and it's made my day to collapse infront of the telly with a cuppa only to find films like Brief Encounter on.

Why don't they make them like that anymore?!

Lots of these B& W films are shown on SKY nowdays.

There have been "Carry on" films showing everyday too....now they are very corny but great fun to watch!

Oh no, I missed it and I wanted to see that one. But I know what you mean about film therapy - we've been catching up on some old DVDs Bliss!

It seems today that I am going to be sat watching Flog it!, Antiques Roadshow, Rolf Harris on Art, Who do you think you are? and if I can find it over on SKY then I will be enjoying Homes under the hammer too!

Films nowadays seem to be all about budget rather than high quality and there are a million sequels. Also most 'modern' films will NOT be watched in 10/20/30/40 years time in the same way that we watch B&W/classic films.
Your viewing for today leaves a hell of a lot to be desired though. That is my idea of TV Hell (except for HUTH).

You'd probably get on well with my hubby - he's often watching b/w films on TV at the weekend while I sigh hopelessly in the background!

Me, I'm a hopeless philistine when it comes to film: my favourites are all in colour - e.g. Blade Runner, Local Hero and The Shipping News.

Oh I love to watch these films but it's rare I get full control of the remote you see!

Son was at his mates and hubby had gone out so I was in charge!
